Rabbi Oimer Yisroel Furmanski is a true Renaissance man who studied and excelled in many varied fields from mathematics and physics, to violin and piano. In 1979, at the age of eighteen, Furmanski became one of the first participants in a unique ‘think-tank’ program run by the Israel Defense Forces, which allowed him to study for his B.Sc. in physics and mathematics at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem.
Furmanski later went on to study for a Ph.D. in physics and astronomy at Penn State University. He had completed his course work in both departments and was about to start work on his thesis, when his life took a dramatic, uplifting turn. At the request of the righteous Lubavitcher Rebbe, Grand Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson, Furmanski left the Ph.D. program to dedicate himself to Torah study of Jewish Chassidic mysticism and disseminate this to the public at large.
Thus Rabbi Furmanski embarked on a path of developing his unique methods and approach in Torah study. He has taught and lectured intensively in many different forums, in Israel as well as overseas. He developed a step-by-step approach to teaching Kabbalah and Chassidic thought, and a testing device for personality analysis with an emphasis on personal growth and development that is the basis of the Atzmi system.
In 2005, Rabbi Furmanski founded the Atzmi-Knowledge company, assisted by his long-time close friend Dr. Shlomo Kalish, CEO of Jerusalem Global Ventures.
